ZBF 2016 - IRELAND - THE PROMISED COUNTRY In today's time marked by the emergence and strengthening of new media, our mission has increased interest in reading, writing and literary communication making them entertaining and accessible. Our goal is to place a strong emphasis on children's rights and the integration of young people into the cultural life of society. Each year, one country will be a partner of the Festival where its literature and culture will be presented. At this year's Festival, the partner country will be Ireland, globally known as a country of strong literary tradition, whose best contemporary authors we will present to the domestic public. Green Island ”with themes stemming from a strong characterization of frequent periods of emigration, a Catholic heritage similar in size to territory, population, struggle for independence, in many ways identified as famous and fraternal. Given all this, the literature and culture of the partner country will not be difficult to connect with contemporary Croatian literature through the presentation of the most important domestic authors. The goal of the Festival - to promote reading and books - will be achieved through guest appearances by world-famous foreign and domestic authors, performers and actors in a relaxed atmosphere, accompanied by film and music events and gastronomic offer. We will offer over 5,000 books at the Festival. We are proud of the fact that we have received strong support from the Ministry of Culture, the City of Zagreb and the Embassy of the Republic of Ireland and that our guests will be some of the most popular contemporary Irish writers.
