ZBF 2015 - Criminally good books!

The literary and cultural event Zagreb Book Festival is conceived as a celebration of the written word and its specific power to enrich the human experience. We hope that in its first edition the Zagreb Book Festival will become an unavoidable national event where, for seven days, we will present dozens of renowned domestic and foreign authors to the Zagreb and, indirectly, the national readership. In addition to a rich literary program, our goal is to present the culture of the guest country, as well as the genre or artistic practice that will be our focus and connect it with recent domestic production in various fields: music, gastronomy, multimedia projects such as creative workshops for children and adults. We see culture above all as an independent and encouraging force based on freedom of expression. At the same time, culture and art in every society act as forces of strengthening and without special attention focused on culture we cannot expect progress. In its area, everyone has the opportunity to participate, which is one of our goals - the availability of top literary and artistic offerings to our citizens. We want to place a strong emphasis on children's rights and the integration of young people into the cultural life of society. In this sense, a large part of our program will be dedicated to presenting children's literature, domestic and foreign, encouraging children to read and create, as well as providing parents with a corner at our Festival where they will feel safe, free and inspired.
